Oral Exams

The oral exam in Irish and Modern Foreign Languages will be arranged by schools and will take place over the Easter holiday period. In PDLS we plan to run the Irish oral from Mon 29th March to Weds 31st March. We plan to run the French and German orals from Tuesday 6th April to Thursday 8th April. We will consult with students and staff to ensure the fairest schedule possible. The State Exams Commission will provide guidance to schools on how to conduct these tests by Mar 15th.

Practical Performance Test in Music

This test is planned for the second week of the Easter break. The tests will be conducted by examiners appointed by the SEC. Further details will be provided as soon as possible, based on public health advice.

Candidate Entries and Candidate Self Service Portal

The Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) will open on Weds 10th March and will remain open until 6 pm on Tuesday 16th March. Candidates will:

  • confirm the subjects the are taking
  • confirm the level (higher, ordinary, foundation)
  • indicate whether they want to take the exams, or to receive SEC Accredited Grades or both. This will be done on a subject by subject basis

Candidates will have a further opportunity at the end of April/early May to confirm their levels in each subject. At that time, candidates can also withdraw their intention to take the written examination but they will not be able to indicate their intention to sit exams after March 16th.

The level selected by candidates at the end of April/early May will be an absolutely final decision.

We will work with all of our students over the coming days to ensure that they understand the process.

To access the portal candidates will need their Personal Identification Number as part of the verification process. For most candidates this will be the first four digits of their PPSN. We will inform individual students if this is not the case.

The arrangements for the timing of all LCA assessments is currently under review by the SEC and will be included in an LCA Guide which will be issued to schools over the coming days.
